GX160 Tier 3 engine is now legal in QMA, for light and heavy classes with no alterations. Per Tech Manual.

Gx120 Tier 3 engine is now legal in QMA, for JR & SR Novice, JR, SR & Heavy Honda with no alterations.

Effective January 7, 2008
All old style GX120 engines must be run with offset keyway OR the new Tier III 120 flywheel.
Keyway will be supplied by QMA (will have logo) and available thru the National office. This is the only keyway allowed.
Maximum engine timing of 20 degree’s before top dead center.
Beginning 4/1/09, all old style GX 120 engines will have to remove keyway and replace with new Tier 3 Flywheel #31100-ZE0-020.
Any GX120 engine that would go across the tech bench with illegal timing will have a 30 day 1st offense suspension. 2nd offense would be 6 months and 3rd offense would be one year.
