That seems to be the
question everyone is asking. Its really quite simple if you keep a
few simple rules in mind. The first and most important is to send
your story in PLAIN TEXT format. That means not using Word or Word
Perfect or Excel or any other programs that adds formatting, font or
color information, tabs, columns or any other layout information.
You might ask why, and the reason is quite simple; HTML (the
language used to create web pages) interprets the layout information
differently. What looks great on your desktop computer may not align
correctly when displayed on the website. Your nice multi-column
layout of race results is now all jumbled up and it looks awful.
In order to fix it, I have three choices, all of which will delay
your story from being loaded on the website. I can manually retype
you article, or, I can send it to you for revisions, or I can try to
copy
and
paste it into a text format. If I can copy and paste your
multi-column layout ONE RACE GROUP AT A TIME, I will fix it for you.
If I can not copy the entire race group, I will return it to you for
corrections. If you've ever tried to copy a tabbed multi-column
layout, you'll understand that it is impossible to highlight each
race group. What you end up highlighting is rows of tab delimited
text, as you can see from the image. This does not solve the problem
and will lead me to return the story to you for corrections.
So, in order to get your story posted in a timely fashion, please
use a simple text editor such as Notepad. Do not use any text
formatting, tabs, columns or tables. Simply type away. When sending
race results, include the track and club, the date of the race and
separate each class and its participants with an [Enter] [Enter].
See example below.

All stories that do not have any attachments,
such as photos or online forms, can be sent directly to the
Publicity Director at
publicity@quartermidgets.org. If there are additional files that
need to be included with your story, please send the story to the
webmaster at
webmaster@quartermidgets.org. Please allow some additional time
for any items with attachments.
Lastly, please proofread and spell check all your work prior to
sending. I get tons of race results and it is impossible for me to
know the what, where, when and who won of each of these events. I
will post EXACTLY what you send and will try to correct gross
misspellings if I catch them.
If you
have an item you would like included in the Events Calendar, select
'EVENTS' from the main menu, then 'UPCOMING EVENTS' then 'ADD YOUR
EVENT'. Fill out the form and submit it. Once it is approved, it
will be added within a couple days.
I hope this encourages everyone to help promote
Quarter Midget racing, your local track or region and you drivers.
Send us your race results, race announcements or any other stories
about your club or drivers that you feel is important. We will be
glad to help you.
