QMA National Meeting – Day 4

National Meeting Concludes
The last day of the 2010 QMA National meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. The meeting began by reviewing and approving the minutes from Friday’s session. The meeting was officially adjourned at 9:45 a.m. Rusty Barnard, National Tech Director, then held a tech seminar. The final minutes and short sheet will be approved within the week and both documents will be included in the Quarterly Reporter.
Highlights of the meeting are as follows:
RCP # 4 was passed with the following verbage:
All SFI 38.1 compliant head and neck restraint systems permitted. Note: manufacturer use requirements must be followed, to include mounting, neck collar, etc.
RCP #10 was passed with the following verbage:
Front Maximum 11” diameter. Rear maximum 12 '1/2” diameter. New Rule: Article 4, Section 2, Rule 33.
33. Tires
33 A. Local option to specify a required right side tire manufacturer and or compound for local events only if the following conditions are met.
33 B. If required, the local spec tire(s) must be approved by a majority vote of the appropriate club for a club level spec tire and by a majority vote of the clubs for a region series spec tire.
33 C.Each type of required tire must be readily available to all members choosing to participate at an event. If it is not readily available, then the tire requirement may not be enforced for that event.
33 D.If a club or region does require specific tires, the details of such requirements must be posted at least two weeks prior to any affected event on the club’s schedule, format, and web site if they have one.
The following committees were formed:
Judging- to adopt a new national judging procedure that will be finalized by a judging committee and presented for approval by the NBOD and Regional Directors on a conference call on or near March 1, 2010 so that it can be implemented on 4/01/10.
President’s Committee- The responsibility is to examine the current class structure with regards to engine platform, driver ages, and weights and work with tech and safety to determine if any changes are needed. If so determined, then rules and procedures will be put together for a 2011 RCP process.
Rule Book Committee- To reorganize and simplify the current QMA rule book for 2011.
Membership Processes- The ballots for the 2010 election will be given to all 2010 members. Voting will be done online via www.quartermidgets.org. Paper ballots will be sent out upon request through the national office. There will be no more late fees levied for membership renewal.
Tech Notes for Honda 120- For Thailand produced cylinder heads, casting number TKI-4 only:
Short Radius must be sharp edged. Minor imperfections may be present on corner between cast port and machined bowl area (short radius).
Sharp edges on both sides of port, located between cast port runner and machined bowl must be intact. The intent of this description is to prohibit any attempt to alter the cylinder head ports as received from the manufacturer.
