This, the final week of racing at little t speedway featured two Days of special racing, and high honors to our retiring drivers!
· Little t speedway, thompson, ct: Saturday, “The Race of Champions” was held for the first time at Little T Speedway. Sunday, the “2005 Monster Dash” featured a fun day of racing and celebration!
· “The Race of Champions,” a new racing format, entered all the past 2005 A-Main Winners automatically into the A-Main Feature Race for each class. All other drivers had to compete hard in the heat races as well as the lower mains in order to compete in this “Race of Champions A-Main.”
· The 2005 Monster Dash Race, a seasonal theme, was an all around fun day of racing and activities. Fun aside, the drivers still raced extra hard for a good finish to close the 2005 season.
· For some not only was the Monster Dash the last race of the 2005 season, but for our retiring drivers it was their final race at Little T. So in their honor all gathered around the track as these seasoned drivers drove parade laps around the track as the crowd cheered. Then the red flag was waved for these retirees to get out of their cars and take the microphone as each was formally introduced by our club president, Steve Lombardo. Steve then gave each driver an opportunity to say their piece and thank all who helped them get to this point in time. Very emotional for all! Getting back in their cars these drivers made a few more victory laps before exiting the track.
· But this was not the last we were to see them. All the retirees returned to the center of the track and posed as a group for many cloudy eyed friends and family.
